I think that proofreading and fact checking are foundational to a good written piece; whether it be an article, document or book. It is also the framework and the building upon which these lie.
It is essential to 'get it right'. I know when I read something that has spelling or grammatical errors, it really bothers me, and I'm sure i am not the only one.
Whether it be an essay, a newspaper article, a research article, a book, you want it to be professional, easy to read and understandable by your readers.
